K Mart Doubles

Well I was ready for today. I had my coupons organized filed and ready to go. I had my list from one of my favorite blogs on what was free or cheap. I knew the rules 10 coupons per transactions; $25 before coupons, and no more than 4 like coupons. I must say though I was a bit disappointed. There prices seemed really high to me. The store was not clean and their people not professional. Did I save moeny? Yes. Was I over the moon about it? Not at all. I was rather disappointed. So I did what you see here in 2 transactions. 10 coupons both times but the cashier didn't even acted like he knew that rule. My total here is 45.96. And I saved 42.04. So about 50%. I won't be overly sad to see K Mart Doubles go away...cause I probably wouldn't drive out of my way to do it again.

Mega Event at Jay C Plus (Kroger Chain)

Sorry for the delay in posting. I have been saving money but also getting organized. I've bought a new Case It binder that is serving as my new coupon binder and I will add a post about it in a minute. But here is my hum dinger for tonight. I just got home from our local JayC store which is in the Kroger family. The bad thing about our JayC is that it doesn't double coupons on a regular basis like the Kroger family does but for the convenience this time I couldn't beet it. I bought all these groceries for 42.73! I saved 57% off my bill on paper but probably a tad more because their computers don't keep track of savings on already reduced things like the bag of bananas I got for .75 (hello banana bread). Kroger is having a Mega Event...which is you buy 10 participating items and you get $5 off your total. So I did 3 Mega Events with things like Hamburger Helper (6), Toaster Strudels (8), Brownie Mixes (2), Cookie Mixes (4), Old Elpaso (3), Fruit Rollup Fruit Shapes (4), Grand Biscuits (2), Yogurt (1) = 30. So we are set for breakfast/baking for a while. A lot of this food will be considered stockpile. We don't eat Hamburger Helpers that often but once a month or so it isn't so bad. And the next time I need to make some cookies for school or work I will have them on hand. We will be having tacos this week...and the yogurt will be gone before I blink my eyes. On top of their $15 off I added my own coupons from both Cellfire and regular for an additional 16.39 in savings. Gotta love the coupon binder :)

Garden Produce

I really do love garden produce and althought I'm mostly getting zuchinni and cucumbers right now...it's nice to reap the rewards of hard work. I'm afraid my tomatoes are going to start turning red while we are away on vacation. Today I'm going to make some blueberry zuchinni bread to help with my abundance of zuchinni...man those things grow like crazy!

Frugal Tip

Don't count out redbox movies. I've recently started renting them for free. This week there have been two codes that redbox puts out to rent for free. So when you head to McD's you can touch the screen were it says "enter Promo code" You do have to swipe your debit card in case you don't return the movie on time but they don't charge it if you do. Last night we watched "Code" and tonight "He's just not that in to you" I don't mind watching during the week when I can see movies for "FREE!!!!" Try it out!

Free Lunch!!!

I don't think this is necessary frugal living but I was excited anyway and thought I would post. On the way home from swim lessons today we stopped at McD's on the way home and went through driveway. I got two happy meals, salad, and drinks and when we pulled up their credit card machine wasn't working...so guess what they did...gave it to me free! I was excited!!!! So when we got home we turned it into a picnic.

CVS deals.

I haven't been to Walgreen's or CVS in a couple weeks because there were really no deals that I needed or wanted. But this week got me off the couch and in there with some things being a necessity. So all you see here and total I paid out of pocket was 13.04 and I still have 5.47 in ECB to use on my next trip. So it's like getting all this for 7.57. Here is the break down and my rookie mistake included. My first transaction was 3 Post Trail Mix Crunch 3/$10 get $5 ECB and I added 3 ($2 coupons) so they paid me $1 to take that off their shelves. CVS Pantiliners .89 with .89 ECB, 3 CVS tapes 1.49 and I got 1.49 ECB for each back! My second transaction was 2 Dawn soaps for $2 get $1 ECB and I added 2 (.50) coupons so that was FREE! The other things were not great deals but necessity which were fabric softener, itch cream, and bar soap. Total Saved: 27.64 Total Spent: 7.57!!!!

Grrr Target

I had a great Target trip today. We were in Columbus for March of Dimes. I was honored to talk with the district managers of Circle K about my children's premature birth. So after spending an hour with the folks for March of Dimes the boys and I headed to Target for some coupon savy shopping. Target has a coupon on Target.com for $1 off of Edy's or Breyer's ice cream. There is no exclusion on the coupons so I used it to snag 7 individual size Edy's which were priced at $1.19. Well to say that I was given a hard time is an understatement but I stood my ground and walked out of there with 7 Edy's ice cream with a total out of pocket cost of $1.33. Next time I go to Target I will do what my fellow bloggers do and take the Target Coupon policy with me. My other deals were 2 Eggo Bakeshop's on sale for 2/$3.00. I paired that with (2)$1.00 off coupons making them .50 each! The Pictureka travel size was on price cut for $6.64; there is a $5 off coupon out there that does not exclude the travel size so I got this game for $1.64 each (I bought two, one to keep and one to give as a gift.) The Salsa was also on price cut for 2.09 and I paired that deal with a 1.00 off coupon so $1.09. There was a Target coupon off on the veggies too. The tub was on sale this week for $6 and we need one badly for our outside toys. The Transformer video was on sale too so i grabbed that for a new movie for vacation. Oh and I almost forgot the Lipton Tea deal. Buy 4 lipton tea's (2.50) and get a $5 Target gift card. So I made that my first transaction paired with (3) .60 off coupons ( I didn't have 4) and used the $5 gift card when I bougt everything else.

Target Spent: $38.99

Target Saved: 40.78!!!!!
